Carley Kids Outdoor Adventures

Adam’s Project aims to get children outside to enjoy the sunshine and nature around them at Point Lobos Nature Reserve. As many know, with technology rapidly advancing, children don’t go outside as much anymore. Instead of going outside to run around and kick a soccer ball, many are now instead playing different video games and staying inside all day.

This is extremely harmful to kids in today’s society as Vitamin D and receiving a form of exercise is essential for the healthy growth and development of these children. It is stated by the Child Mind Institute that “the average American child is said to spend 4 to 7 minutes a day in unstructured play outdoors, and over 7 hours a day in front of a screen.” (Cohen, n.d.) Not only did the Child Mind Institute provide this shocking statistic, but they also provided the many different reasons why it is essential for children to go outside, which include building confidence, promoting creativity, teaching responsibility, providing different simulation, reducing stress and fatigue as well as many various beneficial aspects.

Adam’s Project works hand in hand with Carley Kids Outdoor Adventures in bringing beneficial outdoor elements into children’s lives around our community. Adam’s Project will provide a walk through Point Lobos Nature Reserve to show children the excitement of going outside, and about the resources they have right in their backyard. The day will be spent going through many different areas of the Nature Reserve as well as providing a nutritious lunch and snacks for the children. Adam’s Project wants a bright future for all the children joining on these days through Point Lobos Nature Reserve and will strive to make an impact in each of these children’s lives.

Our mission is to provide children with a sense of urgency towards spending time outdoors and to educate them about the beneficial aspects that come along with it. Adam’s Project looks forward to the many opportunities with the children ahead and hopes to make a lasting impact on each child that comes through the tour with Adam’s Project and Carley Kids Outdoor Adventures.
